This is a special week in that the production team is taking part in two internationally acclaimed events at the same time: the World Summit Award gala held in Colombo, Sri Lanka and Cinekid 2013 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. As we’ll be covering the World Summit Award event in more detail later, this post focuses on Cinekid.
Cinekid is an event held in Amsterdam every year specifically for kids content. This year Kinetic Stories was fortunate enough to be accepted into the Junior Cross-production Market, which meant that not only did we get to participate in this awesome event, we also got to pitch in front of a respectable crowd of professionals. The presentations were held on thursday 25th at the Westergasfabriek, with yours truly going in fifth.
After the pitch, which consisted of giving a basic outline of what Kinetic Stories is about and focusing a bit on the transmedia qualities of Kinetic Stories, the Junior Co-production Market sessions were started. The sessions take place around a format of 30 minute long one-to-one meetings.
Generally speaking the response to our concept has been amazing and I met so many nice people today at both around and in the venue. The evening ended with a few beers and a wonderful dinner. Overall Cinekid is a wonderful event that everybody should visit – the Medialab part of the festival is of mindblowing quality and we definitely hope to be back with something to showcase there next year.
Yours truly representing Delicode and Kinetic Stories at Cinekid 2013.
